Revved motors
Those trees
are now gone

Smoke from
rooftop chimneys
Long winter chill

Frozen ground
Hints of
cat urine

Young oak
in the cold
Dried leaves remain

Road kill rabbit
Less shocking than a ripped
dollar bill

Bright holiday
box store
Candle smells and Santa

A-frame roof
Peaks against the
sliding snow

Sunlight on frozen
asphalt – I shiver
and squint
